Spectators

Spectators are welcome in the outdoor area to the North of the rink or within the Bar/Café area.

Bookings

Customers are strongly encouraged to book online in advance to be sure of their chosen session, and are asked to bring their email confirmation on their phones or on a print-out on the day of skating.

Arrival times

Skaters should aim to arrive 20 minutes before their chosen session. Customers arriving late will be allowed on the ice but may not have their full 45 minutes of skating.

Refunds

All tickets are strictly non-refundable.

However, tickets for Oct and Nov sessions may be transferred to an equivalently priced session, with 3 days’ notice using this link: Move orders between dates and times – Universe Help Center.

If you wish to transfer to a cheaper session, please contact support@universe.com with your order number and details of the session you would like to change to.

Tickets for Dec and Jan skating sessions are only valid for the date and session time booked.

Weather

The Royal Pavilion Ice Rink is an outdoor event and skating continues whatever the weather so please dress appropriately – if it’s raining, you will get wet! Parents of young children may wish to bring a change of clothes during wet weather. Long coats, skirts and scarves should not be worn for visitor’s own safety. Please bear in mind, tickets are strictly non-refundable. Once a ticket has been sold, the quota for that session is reduced so refunds will not be payable if visitors decide to cut short their session.

Peak and Off-Peak Sessions

Peak and off-peak vary by session, however, as a guideline, the following sessions are all off-peak:

  • • Mon - Thurs in Oct and Nov, all sessions
  • • First 2 weekends of the season (26th and 27th Oct, and 2nd and 3rd Nov), all sessions
  • • All morning sessions until 13th Dec
  • • All 9pm sessions
  • • All 10am sessions except on Christmas Eve

Bags

Strictly no bags are permitted on the ice, and if you can leave your bags at home, please do so. Bags should not be left unattended at any time - bags left unattended will be removed from the building for the safety of all our staff and customers. Lockers are available on-site at a cost of £1 (non-refundable).

Phone and Cameras

Phones and cameras may not be used on the ice.

Skate sizes

The smallest skate boot is shoe size European 25 (age approx. 3 to 4 years old). Bob skates (dual blades) are also available for tiny skaters.

The largest skate boot is shoe size UK15 / European 49.

Penguin Skate Aids

The ice rink is obliged to limit the number of penguin skate aids on the ice, and these are only available to small children 1.2m tall or less at a cost of £6 if booked online in advance.

Penguins must remain within the Beginners’ Rink area at all times.

Wheelchair users

The Royal Pavilion Ice Rink is accessible to wheelchair users. All exits and entrances are ramped, viewing areas and cafe are accessible and a disabled toilet is available. Wheelchair users’ accessible skating sessions: 10am – 10.45am every day except 24th Dec 2024. If you would like to skate with us outside of these times, please email the Rink Manager at access@royalpavilionicerink.co.uk with your request, and we will do our best to accommodate you (subject to availability). Please note that wheelchair users must be accompanied on the ice by a competent skater at all times, who may skate for free. Marshals will be on-hand if necessary. Electric wheelchairs are permitted but must be switched to manual setting whilst on the ice.

If you are unable to skate without the assistance of a carer, and you have a Compass Card or equivalent, a complimentary carer ticket can be offered. Please book the paid ticket and email access@royalpavilionicerink.co.uk at least 24 hours in advance of your visit with your booked session time, mentioning the Compass Card. We will then email you your free carer’s ticket. Please note: carer’s tickets are limited to 5 per session and please make sure you bring your Compass Card on the day of skating.

Bicycle parking

The Royal Pavilion Ice Rink has its own bicycle parking. Bicycles must be parked outside of the building and only at the stands provided. Bicycles attached to fences, trusses or left within the building will be removed.

Toilets

Toilets are available on site (including a disabled toilet).
